Forum on Sustainable Finance: Environmental and Social Interventions in Financial Institutions Operations

In Asia, the urban population is growing by 44 million people every year which comes with obvious costs. Societies are challenged by climate change, environmental degradation and water scarcity. Governments and the private sector are responding through adopting sustainable development initiatives aimed at directing financial sector support for green, climate friendly and socially inclusive lending while addressing environmental and social risks of lending operations. The Forum will allow for a continued dialogue and engagement with Philippine Financial Institutions (FIs) and their stakeholders in order to articulate a shared vision, framework and methodologies on exploring opportunities that are consistent with sustainable development principles. The forum also aims to share international and best practices and encourage knowledge sharing on sustainability-based risk management for future resilience and competitiveness of Philippine FIs.

International Conference on Sustainable Built Environment

We would like to invite you and your colleagues to participate in the Sustainable Built Environment 2016 Conference (SBE16 Manila) to be held on July 13-15, 2016 in Manila. SBE16 Manila is a regional conference of the International Initiatives on Sustainable Built Environment (iiSBE), jointly organized by the UP College of Engineering (UPCOE), UP College of Architecture (UPCA) and UP School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP). This 3-day conference aims to promote and facilitate the adoption of methods, policies and tools to accelerate movements towards global sustainable built environments.

Regional Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The Regional Conferences (RC) of the AUN/SEED-Net Program is a regular and active platform for University Researchers, Professors and Graduate Students of different Universities in the ASEAN Region and Japan to share their latest research towards exploring collaboration and cooperation in addressing regional and global issues. In line with enhancing the impact and maximizing the reach of the AUN/SEED-Net Network, the Regional Conferences are expected to engage and foster interaction with external participants, including representatives from the government, industry, community, non-MIs, and other professional organizations.
In 2015, the 8th Regional Conference on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (RCEEE) will be hosted by the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute, College of Engineering, University of the Philippines Diliman and will be held in conjunction with the 11th Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) Conference. The 8th RCEEE and the 11th ERDT Conference will be held in Metro Manila on Nov 16-17, 2015.

  • Philippine Safeguards Forum 2014

    June 16, 2014 – June 17, 2014

    The forum aims to gather all sector agencies implementing Bank financed projects, safeguard regulatory agencies, LGUs, NGOs, and international financing institutions for sharing of safeguards experiences, best practices, and challenges in their project
    operations to improve safeguards compliance and performance.

    Specifically, the forum aims to:

    1. Present updates on both the safeguards policies and procedural guidelines of the Philippines and the World Bank and other cooperating multilateral and bilateral agencies identify capability building needs and priorities.

    2. Present the proposed PH Learning Center on Environmental and Social Safeguards.

    PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES

    The Program of Activities shall include the following items for discussion:

    1. Sharing on the developments in the Bank (WB, ADB, JICA, AusAID, etc.) and their implications to safeguards operations.

    2. Developments in country laws, agency regulations, and institutional arrangement that have implications on development activities and safeguards operations.

    3. Present safeguard issues, challenges, and opportunities.

    4. Present the proposed multi-donor Learning Center on Environmentally and Socially Sustainable Infrastructure and draw comments/suggestions for its establishment.

    5. Identify priority needs including capacity building for continuing improvement of safeguards operations in the country.
