The driving force behind the initial staging of the Philippine Research Conference on Tourism and Hospitality is the quest on how partnerships may be developed, strengthened and utilized for more sustainable outcomes. Specifically, the conference aims to advance academic discourse in support of how a change in policies, business practices and consumer behavior may be effected in order for stakeholders to engage in collaborative activities particularly those that contribute effectively to sustainable development goals; and plant the seeds for more cooperative activities among local tourism and hospitality researchers not just within UP but also among SUCs and private universities.

Forum on Sustainable Finance: Environmental and Social Interventions in Financial Institutions Operations

In Asia, the urban population is growing by 44 million people every year which comes with obvious costs. Societies are challenged by climate change, environmental degradation and water scarcity. Governments and the private sector are responding through adopting sustainable development initiatives aimed at directing financial sector support for green, climate friendly and socially inclusive lending while addressing environmental and social risks of lending operations. The Forum will allow for a continued dialogue and engagement with Philippine Financial Institutions (FIs) and their stakeholders in order to articulate a shared vision, framework and methodologies on exploring opportunities that are consistent with sustainable development principles. The forum also aims to share international and best practices and encourage knowledge sharing on sustainability-based risk management for future resilience and competitiveness of Philippine FIs.
